Satveer delivers extremely successful self-harm awareness sessions to parents, these are often held in secondary schools. The sessions are open to all parents, not just those who have been personally affected by self-harm. The aim of the session is to improve understanding of self-harm behaviours and how to respond appropriately.

How long do you need?

Ideally 1.5/2hours. Sessions are often delivered after school e.g. 6pm

What will you cover

  • What is self-harm?
  • What can lead a young person to self-harm?
  • Functions of self-harm?
  • Supporting a child who is self-harming.
  • How can self-harm make you, the parent feel?
  • The support that is available for you and your child.

How will we get them to attend?

Satveer can support schools in promoting the need for the topic to parents. Previous schools have promoted sessions via a combination of letters, emails, website posts and tweets.
